Meet the actors and the director of The Film Improvisation Project.
Giannis Georgiou
Giannis has studied architecture and film directing. He has directed several short films and one silent feature-length comedy. He has used improvisation with actors before, but it is the first time that he writes a story based entirely on what has been devised by the actors. For Giannis's personal website, click here. |
Emma Newborn
New Zealand born actress, Emma Newborn is now based in London after working and training in Edinburgh, Melbourne and Auckland.
Principal theatre credits include: "Cinderella" (dir. Declan Greene) for Sisters Grimm, UK. "The 11'O Clock", "Binding Love" (dir. Kelly Somes) as part of the Short and Sweet Festival, "Radicals & Misanthropes" (dir. Christian Leavesy), "Pretty White Lies and the Velveteen Undertow" (dir. Anthony Crowley), "Electra" (dir. David Simmons), "Family Running for Mr Whippy" (dir. Kelly Somes) AUST.
Writing Credits include: "Blueprint for Happiness" for St Martins Theatre and Melbourne Fringe 2006
Film credits include: "The Gameshow" (dir. Sean Mullins) UK, "Chambermaids" (dir. Jamie Clapham) UK.
Emma is also a collaborative member of London's Kaylosia Comedy and OOTA. |
Clare Buckingham
Clare began her training at local dance and drama schools in her home town in East London, and has recently furthered her schooling at Mountview Academy of Performing Arts on the Perform/Act for Screen Course. She has appeared in several short films and has just finished shooting a feature film entitled ‘The Novelist’, in which she plays ‘Julia Wells’. In 2008 Clare appeared in the new Heather Brothers musical ‘Teen Scream’, and performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the new musical ‘Kiddy Fiddler on the Roof’. Clare has always been interested in improvisation and devised pieces, and is enjoying being part of The Film Improvisation Project. |
Kathy Trevelyan
Kathy Trevelyan has studied with Propel Acting, English National Opera, Chantraine School of Dance and Birkbeck College. She has appeared in several television programmes including "Goodnight Sweetheart" and "Mysteries". Stage credits include work with Abbey Opera, Paddington Players and AAC Opera. |
Jordan Page
Jordan really enjoys improvised drama. She recently completed a 6 performance run of live improv theatre at The King's Head in Islington. Two leads in BBC dramas ("The Dinner Guest" and "Resolution") also involved some improv. ("Resolution" won BBC Scotland The Andrew Cross Award For Excellance) She has also worked on many short films. Has done corporates and print work. And two commercials- one in the U.k. and the other in Holland.

Emma Perry
Emma has worked with several experimental theatre companies since completing her degree in Theatre Studies & English, both as an actor and writer, including ECT Performance in Sheffield and Sintitulo in Tokyo. More recently she trained in Acting for Film & Television at Vancouver Film School and continues to challenge herself with regular classes at The Advanced Performers Studio whilst working with Independent film makers on short films. |
Debra Baker
Debra is a London based actress with extensive film experience having completed 20 shorts playing a diverse variety of roles including a serial killer, a political news reporter, a junkie who abandons her daughter, and a mother who takes revenge on her son’s killer. She also played Sue Miller in the feature ‘The Butterfly Tattoo’. Theatre productions include a sell out run of King Lear at The Brockley Jack; Martha, Josie & The Chinese Elvis at The Courtyard; How Love Is Spelt at The Space and rehearsed readings of new work at The Albany and the Soho Theatre.

Sabi Singh
Sabi was born and raised in Hong Kong, and has been living in the UK since 2006. He started acting and backstage work with a youth theatre group called "Young Blood", part of Leicester Haymarket Theatre, in Leicestershire. So far he has written a play and filmed two short films. Sabi has really enjoyed improvising on stage and is improvising on screen for the first time.

Beth Aynsley
Beth trained on the three year course at Lamda. Since leaving she has been seen at The Pentameters in "This Is Your Captain Speaking", at The Tabbard in "Opus" and at the 503 in "The Beach" amongst other live projects. She has been involved in a variety of short film projects, most recently in the Lord of the Rings inspired film "Born of Hope". |
Giovanni Bienne
Giovanni graduated from Drama Studio London in 2006. Stage credits since graduating: Midsummer Night's Dream (Theatre Delicatessen), Merchant of Venice (Arcola Theatre), Faust (Punchdrunk and Royal National Theatre), Hortensioin The Taming of the Shrew (Giudecca at Bridewell Theatre), Ceridwen and Remembering Rose (both at Greenwich Playhouse with Revolving Doors). Credits while training include: Trofimov in The Cherry Orchard, Edgar in King Lear and Hiawatha. Film credits include: Sean (lead) (Royal Holloway), Doggy Style (Fresh), The Assassin Escapes (ALS Films). TV: Bagarella in The Real Godfather (BBC TWO). He is a member of the Associated Artists' Group of theatre company Real Circumstance.

Anna Malmkjaer
Anna Malmkjaer started her performing life in the Royal Danish Ballet. Since then, she left Denmark to enjoy her career as a actress in London. Anna has starred in several successful commercials for well known consumer brands, starred in several short films including “Trent2Rent”, “Making it Mean Something” and “Funeral Blues”, and has just finished filming 2 pilots for TV and internet.
She joined the Film Improvisation Project because she enjoys improvisation and wants to learn more about the way films are produced from the first idea to the finished product. |
